M-Switch Anti-Spam
The Message Scanning Configuration Tool allows for configuration of options for assessing potential spam messages, detection rules and message handling actions.
Lists of blocked words and phrases, black or white listed email addresses,
blocked telephone number content, suspicious character sets, MIME types
and file extensions can all be defined to build spam filters responsive
to the needs of your organisation.
Once the scoring levels have been set, actions can be defined and associated with those scores. If a message is judged to be spam, M-Switch Anti Spam can:
- Redirect the message to an alternate mailbox. This is useful where spam elimination is being introduced or where there is a requirement for manual review.
- Generate an error message to be sent back to the message originator. Most spam does not have a valid return address, so these error messages will typically not be delivered anywhere. In the event that a valid message is incorrectly determined to be spam, this will notify the originator that the message has not been delivered, and enable alternate action to be taken.
- Mark the message, e.g. by annotating the subject line or adding an 'X-Spam' header.
- Discard the message.
- Quarantine the message pending user or administrator action to resolve.
Anti-Virus Configuration
The M-Switch Anti-Virus add-on is similarly easy to configure and can be used with your choice of anti-virus package or packages. Boundary checking should, to gain maximum security, use a different package to the one deployed on the desktop (Anti-virus companies generally fail to make this important recommendation).
