M-Link XMPP Instant Messaging Evaluation

M-Link is Isode's Instant Messaging server based on the XMPP (eXtensible Messaging and Presence) protocol. You can read more about M-Link here.

Who is this evaluation for?

This evaluation is for customers looking to set up and run an XMPP service at their own domain, for IM communications internally or with other XMPP services.

This document addresses the needs of those who wish to evaluate Isode's M-Link XMPP Server as a standalone service. The M-Link XMPP server uses directory (LDAP) based configuration and as such requires using an existing Isode M-Vault server or the installation of an Isode M-Vault server.

M-Link is also available for evaluation as part of Isode's full Internet Messaging Suite. For details please see the Full Internet Messaging Suite evaluation page.

Evaluation Objectives

At the end of this evaluation you will have:

  • Installed a new M-Vault server or configured an existing M-Vault Server.
  • Installed M-Link as an XMPP Server.
  • Exchanged XMPP Messages between XMPP Clients.
  • Set up both ad-hoc and permanent Multi User Chat rooms.
  • Set up and used Isode's GUI management tools for M-Link.
